Grapfruit lemonade §

Summer is here and it's hotter than Britney's nudes. Cool down with this refreshing grapefruit lemonade. Recipe from Waitrose.

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: -

Makes: 2 drinks

25g sugar

pinch of salt

2 pink grapefruit

1 lemon

1. How you doing sugar?

Replenish those electrolytes by making some sugary syrup. Heat 25g sugar with 50ml water in a saucepan. Heat over a medium heat and stir regularly. When the sugar has made like a ghost and disappeared, set it aside to cool.

2. Blame it on the juice

Once the sugar syrup has cooled, start lemonading (no, put that baseball bat down! Not that type of lemonading). Fill a jug with 200ml water, add lots of ice cubes (much like the man himself, this drink ain't got no haters). Add the juice of one lemon and two grapefruits and a pinch of salt. Stir everything together. Serve in your fanciest glass!

Dink and sink!

Food for Thought

Lizzy says: "As you can tell by my hoodie in the dink and sink, this was not the hottest day. However, this drink still went down a treat! I rarely have soft drinks so it was a nice little treat, and a very refreshing one at that. I found it perhaps a smack too bitter, but I imagine that in the heat this drink would be a saving grace. It was also very quick and delightfully easy to make! 7/10"

Kate says: "Now this I will 100% be making again in summer when I am the personification of the melting emoji but it was still perfectly delightful on a cold february evening. I'm a sucker for grapefruit and if my teeth weren't so sensitive I would eat a whole one every day, but the balance of sweet and sour here is great and a nice twist on lemonade. I made another one with way too much sugar syrup and that put me off a bit but overall I would give it 9/10"

8/10 Gasps
