Bring the sunshine to your day with this golden milk (also known as tumeric latte). This recipe is from downshiftology.

Cooking time: 5 minutes

Makes: 1 cup

1 cup milk (or plant based milk)

1/2tsp ground tumeric

1/8tsp ground nutmeg

1/8tsp ground ginger

1 ground cardamom pod

pinch black pepper

1/2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)

1. Tumeric for your tum tum

Measure out 1 mugful of milk (better to use a mug that isn't exactly the same colour as the latte is going to be) and heat it in a seperate vessel in either the microwave or on the hob.

Next measure out your spices: 1/2tsp ground tumeric, 1/8tsp ground cinnamon, 1/8tsp ground nutmeg, 1/8tsp ground ginger, 1 ground cardamom pod, pinch black pepper and other spices that you think might go into your original mug.

Add 1/2 tbsp of honey or any other natural liquidy sweetner and a couple of tsps of the heat milk to form a paste at the bottom of the mug. It will be the colour of a very tanned minion.

Add the remaining heated milk and stir togther.

Serve with a bel poori.

Dink and sink!

Food for Thought

Lizzy says: "I used to be a full time golden milk officinado, but haven't had it in years after the drink was tainted by one cafe's interpretation (a huge bowlful of soy milk tumeric latte that tasted and looked like a bland soup). But this recipe has brought back my addiciton. It is so quick and easy to make and the result is like a hot chocolate for adults. 10/10"

Kate says: "I have a tendency to go through phases where I maintain that something is "the best thing in the world" and I remember a time when golden milk was one of them. That meant that this tasted a lot like a particular chapter of my life. But I have to admit even with memories attached it is still such a comforting and delicious drink for a cold day and is also probably really good for you, I think..? Perhaps I will revisit if I fancy a warm non-caffeinated drink 8/10 (it gets an extra point for ease of preparation) "
